Filarial Nematode

Filarial nematodes are a type of parasitic nematode, typically spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. They cause filariasis, a tropical and subtropical disease that causes swelling and pain in the arms, legs and genital area. Symptoms can include fever, rash, swelling and inflammation, and may cause permanent disability if left untreated. Filarial nematodes are a major public health concern in many countries, especially in areas with poor sanitation. Treatment with anti-parasitic medications is available and can successfully eliminate the infection and reduce the risk of future outbreaks.
