Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Embryonic stem cell research is the study of stem cells derived from early-stage embryos. Stem cells are the body's master cells that have the potential to develop into any tissue or organ in the body. Embryonic stem cell research promises to unlock new treatments for a number of diseases, including cancer, by providing new access to powerful regenerative therapies. Because of the ability to differentiate into any type of cell, scientists are able to study the development of cells and organs in the body, opening up avenues for understanding and treating genetic diseases. Embryonic stem cell research is also used to test new drugs and to create cells and tissues for transplantation and regenerative medicine.
