Immacolata Castellano obtained her degree in Biology in 2001, and the PhD in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2007.
She is currently engaged as Researcher in the field of Marine Biochemistry at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples.
She is Member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 2008.
Her research interests focus mainly on the study of molecular mechanisms regulating fundamental biological processes in marine organisms and their adaption to different environmental factors.
In particular, she has focused her attention on the study of structure, function and evolution of enzymes involved in redox homeostasis and detoxification, and on redox sensitive signal transduction pathways thereof.
Recently, her research interests have been focused also on the characterization of biological properties of bioactive molecules from marine organisms.
