Virulence Factors of Drug-resistant Pathogens
Virulence factors are molecules produced by drug-resistant pathogens, such as bacteria and viruses, that allow them to cause disease. These molecules help the pathogens overcome the body’s immune system, attach to host cells, and establish an infection. Understanding the virulence factors of drug-resistant pathogens is essential for the development of new treatments and vaccines to prevent and control infections. By monitoring the emergence of drug-resistant pathogens and their virulence factors, researchers are able to identify potential new drug targets, develop strategies to reduce the spread of drug-resistant infections, and provide better patient care.
