Surveillance for Drug-resistant Pathogens
Surveillance for drug-resistant pathogens is an important tool for understanding the spread of potentially life-threatening bacteria. By monitoring the prevalence of drug-resistant pathogens, health care providers can better understand how to best treat infections and prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance. This information is increasingly being used to inform policies and decisions in public health, to better protect the health of communities worldwide. Surveillance for drug-resistant pathogens also helps to identify new or emerging drug-resistant strains, allowing for the rapid design and implementation of policies or interventions to control or prevent their spread.
