Pro-drugs
Pro-drugs are drugs that are inactive until they are metabolized by the body into active forms. They are used to improve the safety and efficacy of treatments. For example, pro-drugs can be used to provide a lower dose of medication or to target the medication to a specific tissue within the body. They can also reduce the rate of metabolization of a drug and delay its absorption, helping drugs to remain active in the body for longer periods of time. Pro-drugs offer a safer and more efficient way to deliver medications and are thus significant in modern medication and healthcare.

Pathogen is anything that can produce disease. Typically the term is used to describe an infectious agent such as a virus, bacterium, prion, a fungus, or even another micro-organism. There are several substrates including pathways where the pathogens can invade a host. Diseases caused by organisms in humans are known as pathogenic diseases.
