Open Source Drug Discovery
Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) is an innovative approach to tackle major global health challenges. It uses cutting-edge technology and collaborative agreements to enable researchers from academia, industry and other related communities to develop new medicines and treatments for previously neglected diseases. With the help of data sharing and open collaboration, the OSDD model allows drug discovery to move faster and more cost-effectively than traditional models. The application of Open Source Drug Discovery has enabled researchers to identify novel compounds and repurpose existing drugs for diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases. Additionally, the highly collaborative nature of OSDD also fosters the development of novel treatments by bringing together multiple stakeholders and disciplines. Open Source Drug Discovery is an important tool to accelerate the development of treatments for neglected diseases and to improve global public health.
