Incidence and Mortality
rate The incidence and mortality rate refer to the number of new cases of a particular disease or condition, and the number of deaths due to it, per a given population in a given area over a specific period of time. Such rates can be used to assess the burden of a particular disease, the effectiveness of treatments and interventions, and the impact of certain behaviors and exposures on people’s health. Incidence and mortality rates can also help inform public health and medical policies and interventions, in order to better protect and improve people’s health and wellbeing.
