It is a multidisciplinary field that uses a range of methods to identify, measure, and analyze health-related events and conditions. Epidemiology is a cornerstone of public health research and practice, and is used to inform decisions and policies related to disease prevention and health promotion. In addition to its public health applications, epidemiology is used to inform clinical/medical research, health services research, and health economics.
