Drug-resistant Pathogens
Drug-resistant pathogens are types of bacteria and other microorganisms that have evolved the ability to resist the effects of traditional antibiotic medications. These pathogens can cause serious health consequences, such as increased risk of infection, increased length of hospital stays, and increased mortality. As such, the use of drug-resistant pathogens is an important public health concern and one of the biggest challenges to global health today. As many of these organisms are acquired in healthcare settings, it is essential to develop safe and effective strategies to prevent, detect and respond to drug-resistant pathogens, as well as ensure that resistant organisms are properly treated and managed.
