Drug-resistant Hiv
Drug-resistant HIV is an AIDS-causing virus that has developed resistance to treatments. It is a major public health challenge since it can cause severe illness and death in HIV-infected individuals, and is an important factor in HIV-related deaths around the world. Drug-resistant HIV can be successfully treated with the appropriate combination of drugs, however it can also spread rapidly. This makes it an important research and medical focus, both to manage existing cases and to help prevent further transmission of the virus.
