Drug Absorption
Drug Absorption is the process by which drugs move from their site of administration into the bloodstream, where they are transported to sites of action. It is a key step in drug delivery and drug efficacy, as it influences the amount of drug that reaches the site of action and its therapeutic effects. Drug Absorption is influenced by a variety of factors including route of administration, presence of food, pH, size of drug molecules and drug interactions. Strategies that aim to improve drug absorption include the use of nano-particles and drug delivery systems.
