Caco-2 Cells
Caco-2 Cells are a well-studied, widely-used model for studying human intestinal cells. The cells, originally derived from a human colon carcinoma, are capable of forming a monolayer that is typically used in studying the absorption, metabolism, and transport of drugs in the human intestine. Caco-2 cells were the first to be established as an in vitro model of human intestinal epithelial cells, and have been used for over 30 years as a reliable tool for drug development and for studying numerous other aspects of intestinal physiology. Caco-2 cells are a valuable tool for gaining insight into human health and disease processes.
