Bacterial Pathogens

Bacterial pathogens are microorganisms capable of causing infectious diseases in humans and animals. They range from common, mild infections such as strep throat, to serious and life-threatening illnesses such as meningitis, septicemia, and cholera. Bacterial pathogens can be spread through food and water, physical contact, animals, and insects. Early detection and proper control measures, such as disinfection, sanitation, and vaccination, are essential to minimize the spread and morbidity of bacterial infections. Bacterial pathogens play an important role in the understanding of disease and the development of preventive and therapeutic measures.
