Antihypertensive Drugs
Antihypertensive drugs are medications used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). These drugs work by lowering blood pressure and can help prevent serious medical complications, such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure. These drugs are usually prescribed when lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, are not enough to effectively manage hypertension. Common types of antihypertensive drugs include diuretics, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers. Patients should consult with a doctor to determine which drug is best for them.
