Antibiotic Stewardship

Antibiotic stewardship is the effort to optimize the use of antibiotics in medical practice to ensure that the right antibiotic is used at the right dose, for the right duration, and only when necessary. It helps to reduce the emergence and spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and ensures that antibiotics remain effective for future generations. This approach to antibiotic use is essential for healthcare and is widely promoted in both primary and secondary care settings. The goal of antibiotic stewardship is improve patient outcomes, reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance, reduce healthcare costs, and improve quality of care.
