Antibiotic Misuse and Overuse

Antibiotic misuse and overuse refers to the inappropriate use of antibiotics to treat infections that are not caused by bacteria. It is a growing problem in many countries, as the excessive and unnecessary use of antibiotics is contributing to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This can complicate the treatment of infections, as conventional antibiotics may no longer be effective. It is essential to only use antibiotics when they are needed and abide by the prescription instructions. Implementation of effective measures, such as awareness-raising and educational campaigns, are important for reducing the risk of antibiotic misuse and overuse.
