Yac Cloning

Yac cloning is a molecular biology technique used to introduce large pieces of DNA into cells. It has become a powerful tool for genetic engineering, genetic mapping, and sequencing. Yac stands for Yeast Artificial Chromosome and is one of the few cloning systems that can accommodate large DNA fragments (100 kb - 1 Mb) which is important for studying large gene regions. The Yac cloning technique has enabled researchers to create large libraries of cloned genetic material and to identify and study important genes related to diseases, drug development, and agricultural applications.
