Thermus

aquaticus Thermus aquaticus, sometimes known as a "thermophile," is an extremophile bacterium that is capable of surviving in extreme temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius (158°F). It is of great importance in biotechnology due to its ability to produce heat-stable enzymes that can be used in many processes, such as gene cloning, sequencing, and PCR. It has also been used in forensic science to detect DNA evidence in difficult or damaged samples. Thermus aquaticus can be found in a variety of natural environments, including hot springs, geothermal vents, and other extreme environments.
