Tegument Proteins
Tegument proteins are proteins that make up the protective outer layer of many organisms, including humans. They are essential for maintaining the integrity of the organism's environment, as they form a barrier between the interior of the body and the external environment. Tegument proteins protect against physical and chemical damage, prevent infection and aid in body processes such as respiration and digestion. They are also involved in cell-to-cell communication and regulating the movement of substances across membranes. Therefore, tegument proteins play an important role in a wide range of biological processes and their proper functioning is essential for the health of an organism.
