Ssrna Viruses

Single-stranded RNA (ssRNA) is a type of virus that replicates using its own genetic material and a special enzyme called an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Unlike other viral families, the ssRNA virus does not require the presence of a host cell to replicate. These viruses are responsible for a wide range of illnesses, including the common cold and certain types of cancer. Many of these viruses have strategies to evade the body’s immune system, making them particularly dangerous. Therefore, understanding ssRNA viruses is important for uncovering new treatments and vaccines.
