Pulsed-field Gel Electrophoresis

Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) is a powerful molecular biology technique used to separate large fragments of DNA according to their size. This technique is important in molecular biology because it allows scientists to look at the DNA of a wide variety of organisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It can be used to study the structure, function, and evolution of genes, as well as to identify new species. PFGE is also used in medical diagnostics, forensics, and food safety. It is an invaluable tool for researchers and practitioners in the field of molecular biology, providing insights into the genetic makeup of numerous organisms.
