Biography:

  • Laurent Metzinger has completed both his PhD in Biological Sciences and Pharmaceutical studies from the University of Strasbourg, France and was a postdoctoral fellow from the University of Oxford (UK) in a leading lab on Duchenne muscular Dystrophy (Pr. Kay Davies), where he decided to focus on the study of gene regulation. 
  • He is part of the INSERM U1088 unit in Amiens (dir. Pr. Ziad Massy), which focuses on vascular calcifications related on CKD. 
  • In this unit, he leads a team specialized in the study of non-coding RNAs. 
  • He has authored some of the first papers showing a role for microRNAs in chronic kidney disease. 
  • He has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals, including Nature and Cell, and is serving as an editorial board member for RNA & Diseases and Journal of Nephrology and Urology. 
  • He teaches Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology in the Pharmacy School of Amiens, and is serving in the University Hospital of Amiens in the Biochemistry laboratory.
