Genome Annotation
Genome annotation is the process of attaching biological information to a genome. It involves identifying the sequences within a genome, determining the function of those sequences and assigning them to specific gene products. Genome annotation is critical for understanding the function of a genome and how its components interact with one another. It is also used to discover new genes and pathways, which can ultimately lead to medical breakthroughs in treating and curing diseases.
