Chemistry of Dna
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a large molecule that stores genetic information in the form of a code. It is present in nearly all living organisms and serves as a blueprint for the production of proteins, essential for the healthy functioning of cells and the organism as a whole. As a result, the chemistry of DNA plays a critical role in determining the characteristics of organisms from simple bacteria to complex animals. By understanding how DNA interacts with other molecules and its role in biological processes, scientists are able to develop new treatments for genetic diseases, cancer, and other ailments. Furthermore, knowledge of DNA can be applied to identify species and criminal suspects, trace ancestry, and develop new crops with desired traits.
