Suicide

Suicide is a serious public health issue that affects individuals, families, and communities. It occurs when a person intentionally causes their own death. Suicide is preventable, yet it is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Risk factors for suicide include mental health conditions, substance abuse, relationship problems, physical health problems, and a family history of suicide. Strategies to prevent suicide include identifying those at risk, providing supportive services, promoting help-seeking behaviors, and reducing access to lethal means. It is important to seek help from a trained professional if thoughts of suicide arise in order to reduce suicide risk.
