Rabies

Rabies is an infectious disease caused by a virus that affects humans and other mammals. Rabies is spread through contact with the saliva of an infected animal, usually through a bite or scratch. Symptoms of rabies can take anywhere from one to three months to develop. If left untreated, rabies is almost always fatal. Rabies is a preventable disease if treated early. Vaccines are available to protect both people and animals from rabies. In areas where rabies is common, controlling the disease among domestic animals is essential, as they can spread the virus to humans.
