Mumps

Mumps is a highly contagious viral illness that primarily affects children. It is typically spread through contact with saliva or respiratory droplets from an infected person, and is characterized by swelling of the salivary glands, fever, and headache. Without proper treatment, the virus can cause severe complications such as meningitis, deafness, and pancreatitis. Vaccination is the best way to protect against mumps, and frequent hand washing and avoiding contact with an infected person are also important preventative measures. Mumps is an important viral infection to recognize and treat as early as possible in order to minimize the risk of serious long-term health effects.
