Measles

Measles is an infectious disease caused by the measles virus. It is one of the most common and contagious childhood illnesses. Symptoms include a fever, rash, runny nose, red eyes, and coughing. The disease is easily prevented through vaccination. Measles is a serious disease with serious complications that can include ear infections, blindness, pneumonia, and encephalitis. Measles can be fatal, especially in young children. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles and to help control its spread. Vaccination is recommended for all children and adults who have not already been vaccinated.
