Influenza

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza viruses. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, muscle aches, and extreme fatigue. It can be serious, even life-threatening, particularly in high-risk populations such as young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. Influenza is highly contagious and is spread mainly through coughing, sneezing, and close contact with infected people. Getting the flu vaccine annually is the most effective way to prevent the illness. Early diagnosis and proper treatment of influenza can reduce the severity of symptoms and help prevent more serious complications.
