HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is a condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which attacks the immune system and can lead to life-threatening infections and illnesses. HIV/AIDS is a global epidemic, causing millions of deaths every year. Early diagnosis and treatment with antiretroviral therapy can reduce HIV transmission and improve the quality of life of those living with HIV/AIDS. Treatment also helps prevent the development of AIDS, the most advanced stage of HIV infection. Prevention strategies such as regular HIV testing, practicing safe sex, and avoiding shared needles and unscreened blood transfusions can also help reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS.
