Enteritis
Enteritis is an inflammation of the small intestine. It can be caused by any number of factors, including infection, drugs, ingested toxins, or physical injury. Signs and symptoms of enteritis include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Treatment of enteritis depends on its cause and may include antibiotics, antidiarrheal medications, or dietary changes. Treatment may also include the use of probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help to reduce symptoms of enteritis and help to restore normal intestinal flora. Enteritis is a common and potentially serious condition that can lead to dehydration and malabsorption of nutrients, so early diagnosis and treatment is important to reduce long-term complications.
