Dermatophytosis

Dermatophytosis, also known as ringworm, is a fungal infection of the skin caused by dermatophytes. It is characterized by ring-shaped, itchy, scaly patches on the skin. This infection is highly contagious and can spread from one person to another by close contact or through contact with the hair, skin, or nails of an infected person or animal. It is commonly seen in children and can be treated with topical antifungal creams, shampoos, or oral medications. Dermatophytosis is important to diagnose and treat because of its contagious nature and potential to cause severe skin damage. Early diagnosis and treatment is crucial to preventing further spread and complications.
