Dermatology Atopic Dermatitis and Other Forms of Eczema
Dermatology Atopic Dermatitis and Other Forms of Eczema are skin conditions caused by inflammation of the skin that result in redness, itching, dryness and rashes. They are among the most common skin conditions, affecting people of all ages. Atopic Dermatitis, also known as ‘atopic eczema’, is a chronic skin condition that is often accompanied by other allergic conditions, such as asthma, hay fever, and food allergies. Symptoms range from mild to severe, and management includes topical treatments, such as topical corticosteroids, as well as lifestyle changes, such as avoiding triggers. Other forms of eczema, such as Contact Dermatitis, Irritant Dermatitis, Seborrheic Dermatitis and Discoid Eczema, are also caused by inflammation of the skin and have similar symptoms. Treatment of these forms of eczema differ and may include topical treatments, antibiotics and antihistamines, depending on the cause. Early and accurate diagnosis of dermatology atopic dermatitis and other forms of eczema is important, as is ongoing symptom management. Proper management of these conditions can help improve long-term skin health and quality of life.
