Cerebrovascular Diseases
Cerebrovascular diseases are a group of disorders that affect the blood vessels and circulation in the brain. These conditions can cause stroke, dementia, paralysis, and death. Such diseases are the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of adult disability. Treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular diseases are based on lifestyle modifications, medications, minimally invasive procedures, and surgeries. Managing risk factors, such as hypertension, smoking, diabetes, and high cholesterol, can reduce the risk for stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases.
