Bifidobacterium
Bifidobacterium is a genus of bacteria that is commonly found in the gut. It plays an important role in maintaining a healthy intestinal flora and is associated with a number of health benefits. In particular, Bifidobacterium helps to break down dietary fiber for fuel, keeps the gut microbiome in balance, and helps to protect against pathogenic microorganisms, such as harmful bacteria. Additionally, Bifidobacterium is thought to improve digestion, help to absorb and synthesize vitamins, and stimulate the immune system. It is also increasingly being used in food and supplement products, such as yogurt and probiotics, both as a means to help maintain gut health and to potentially provide other health benefits.
