Avian Influenza

Avian Influenza (AI) is a form of influenza, also known as bird flu, that affects all species of birds, including poultry, waterfowl and other wild birds. AI can be highly contagious and is a major concern to human and animal health worldwide. It can cause severe illness, death and economic losses due to disruption of trade and other activities. Moreover, AI has the potential to be transmitted from birds to humans, leading to the emergence of pandemic forms of influenza. To reduce the risk of AI in poultry, it is important to practice good biosecurity measures and surveillance programs. Additionally, vaccination of poultry can be used to control and prevent the spread of AI.
