Vagotomy
Vagotomy is a surgical procedure where nerves coming from the vagus nerve in the abdomen are cut. This is to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach, which can be helpful in treating chronic heartburn and ulcers. It is a minimally invasive procedure and is considered safe with generally good outcomes. It has also been studied as a potential treatment for obesity, since it can decrease hunger levels, but more research is needed in this field.
