Rotavirus
Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus that mainly causes severe diarrhea in young children. It is the most common cause of severe gastroenteritis and hospitalization in children aged three and younger. Rotavirus is spread through close contact with an infected person, their feces, and contaminated objects and can spread rapidly and easily among large groups of people. Vaccines are available to protect children against the virus, and good hand-washing practices are essential to reduce the risk of transmission. As Rotavirus is a global health concern, monitoring and surveillance of the virus is ongoing to understand the magnitude of the disease and to facilitate evidence-based management strategies.
