Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used in surgery to gain access to the abdomen and pelvis for the purpose of diagnosing and treating diseases. It involves using a thin, lighted tube, which is inserted through a small incision, and is used to view the abdominal and pelvic organs. Laparoscopy is beneficial because it is less invasive than open surgery and results in less pain and scarring, as well as a shorter recovery time. Laparoscopy is used in a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including appendectomy, endometriosis, cholestectomy, and ovarian cystectomies. It is also used to evaluate the interior of the abdomen and pelvis and assess the need for surgical intervention.
