Lactobacillus

Acidophilus Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic bacteria that lives in the human gut. It is important for maintaining the balance of the digestive system, as well as for overall health. It helps protect the body from infection and promote healthy digestion by breaking down lactose and other sugars. Lactobacillus acidophilus has also been used to fight off certain forms of bacteria and yeast infections, to reduce cholesterol levels, to improve nutrient absorption, and to potentially help prevent some forms of cancer. Some research also suggests that Lactobacillus acidophilus may help with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and lactose intolerance. It is generally considered safe, but may cause gastrointestinal upset if taken in high doses.
