Intussusception

Intussusception is a medical condition in which part of the intestine (bowel) slides into the next segment. This can cause a blockage of the intestine, which can lead to severe abdominal pain and nausea. In some cases, it can also cause bleeding and infection. Treatment may include surgery, a manual reduction of the intussusception, or medication. Left untreated, intussusception can cause irreversible damage to the affected intestine. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to preventing additional complications. Intussusception is a relatively common condition among infants and young children, although it can occur in any age group. Early recognition and intervention is important to prevent serious complications.
