Gastric Ulcers
Gastric ulcers are open sores that can form in the lining of the stomach. They are a very common medical condition and are caused by either the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria. When left untreated, gastric ulcers can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. They can also lead to the development of more serious complications such as bleeding or perforation of the stomach. Treatment of gastric ulcers generally involves the use of antibiotics or medications that reduce stomach acidity and promote healing. Lifestyle changes such as avoiding smoking, alcohol and spicy foods as well as stress reduction can also help reduce pain and speed up the healing process. Early treatment of gastric ulcers can help prevent more serious complications and allow sufferers to enjoy a better quality of life.
