Diverticulitis
Diverticulitis is a condition in which small pouches form in the colon wall, which can become inflamed or infected. The pouch, called a diverticulum, is created when pressure builds and weak spots in the colon wall bulge outwards. Diverticulitis can lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, and constipation. Left untreated, it can result in complications such as bowel obstruction, abscess formation, and fistula. Treatment typically involves antibiotics and rest. In rare cases, surgery may be required. Diverticulitis can be managed with lifestyle changes such as diet modifications, exercise, and stress management. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is important to reduce the risk of complications.
