Celiac Disease
Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system reacts adversely to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. It is estimated to affect 1% of the population globally. People with Celiac Disease experience digestive and other health issues such as weight loss, abdominal pain, fatigue, bloating, and anemia. While there is no cure, with the adoption of a gluten-free diet, people with the disease can improve their symptoms and prevent health problems associated with it. A gluten-free diet requires a complete overhaul of one’s eating habits and lifestyle, which can be difficult and challenging, but with the help of medical professionals one can seek the required guidance and nutrition advice and develop suitable eating habits.
