Apolipoproteins

Apolipoproteins are protein molecules found in blood plasma and cell membrane. They are essential for transporting fat and cholesterol molecules within the body, delivering them to their target sites and aiding in their metabolism. Apolipoproteins thus play an important role in both normal physiological and metabolic processes, and are essential for overall health and well-being. In addition, certain forms of apolipoproteins, such as HDL and LDL, are known to be associated with risk factors for cardiovascular disease and can be used to assess risk. The levels of apolipoproteins can also be used as biomarkers to diagnose and monitor the progression of metabolic, endocrine and cardiovascular diseases.
