Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis is a rare condition that occurs when a protein called amyloid builds up in the organs of the body. It can cause a range of symptoms including fatigue, weight loss, and organ dysfunction. Diagnosis of amyloidosis is typically based on evaluation of the patient’s medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, imaging studies, and biopsy. Treatment of amyloidosis depends on the type, severity, and location of the amyloid deposits, and may include medications, lifestyle changes, surgery, and/or chemotherapy. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of amyloidosis may improve the patient’s prognosis, allowing for better management of the condition.
