Spark Ionization

Spectroscopy Spark Ionization Spectroscopy (SIS) is a form of elemental analysis used to identify and analyze the chemical composition of a sample. It involves ionizing atoms in a sample by providing energy in the form of an electrical spark, generating a spectrum of ions and an accompanying electrical signal. The ions produced are specific to the sample and their intensities can be compared to a known library of elements to provide specific information about the sample. SIS is a powerful tool to identify and quantify elements in materials across a wide range of concentrations, from single element compounds to complex mixtures. It is used in a variety of applications including environmental science, mining, forensic analysis, and petrochemical analysis.
