Protein Characterization
Protein characterization is the process of identifying and studying the properties of proteins. It involves examining the structure, size and shape of proteins, as well as their physical, chemical and biochemical properties. This knowledge can be used to understand the role proteins play in processes such as metabolism, immunity and gene expression, and to create protein-based biopharmaceuticals. Better understanding of proteins can lead to new treatments for diseases, help improve crop yields and animal health, and provide insights into the evolution and functioning of organisms. Protein characterization can also be used to assess the safety and efficacy of novel and existing biopharmaceuticals, and to help design and optimize bioprocesses.
