Metallomics

Metallomics is a subfield of analytical chemistry that involves the study of metals and their metabolites in biological systems. It allows researchers to identify and quantify the various species of metals present in biological samples, such as cells and tissues, and to examine their roles in metabolism, signaling, and other cellular functions. Metallomics has become an important tool for understanding the effects of metals in health and disease. It can also be used to determine the bioavailability of metals from environmental sources, such as food, water, and air. By providing a better understanding of the complex interactions between metals and biological systems, metallomics can be used to develop novel therapeutics and diagnostics.
